Keratin for hair — Cosmex shampoo, balm and mask
Hydrolyzed keratin rebuilds the damaged core of the hair from within.
The Cosmex keratin line is a system of shampoo, balm and mask with hydrolyzed keratin. Keratin is the main hair protein; coloring, heat and hard water break its scaffold. The shampoo cleanses gently without sulfates, the balm seals the cuticle, the mask gives concentrated repair. They work stronger together.
What a keratin balm does after shampoo
Shampoo cleanses and temporarily lifts the cuticle. The balm does the opposite: it smooths the scales down and leaves a thin layer of hydrolyzed keratin along the length, so hair frizzes less after drying.
A balm and a mask are not rivals — they differ in contact time. The balm works in 1–2 minutes and is used every wash; the mask stays on for 5–10 minutes and is used as a course.
Care after a salon keratin treatment
Sulfates (SLS, SLES) strip the treatment faster, so a sulfate-free shampoo and balm are the usual pair after straightening. The Cosmex Keratin shampoo is sulfate-free: it foams less than supermarket shampoos, which is normal for mild surfactants.
When you can first wash your hair after the procedure depends on the formula — your stylist will tell you.
Frequently asked questions
Keratin shampoo and balm together or separately?+
Together. The shampoo preps and cleanses gently, the balm seals the cuticle and locks keratin. Separately the effect is weaker. Add a mask 1–2× a week for damaged hair.
How is keratin care different from salon keratin treatment?+
Salon treatment straightens with formaldehyde for months. Home keratin care does not straighten — it gradually repairs structure, gently.
Who is the keratin line for?+
Damaged, porous, colored and bleached hair, after keratin and botox treatments.
Can I use keratin shampoo all the time?+
Yes, it is sulfate-free. Use the mask 1–2× a week, shampoo and balm every wash.
Is a keratin balm suitable after a keratin straightening treatment?+
Yes, if it is sulfate-free — the Keratin line is. Sulfate products wash the treatment out faster, so the result lasts less.
