What makes jojoba different from other oils. Strictly speaking, it's not quite an oil — it's a liquid plant wax. Most vegetable oils consist of triglycerides, while jojoba is made up primarily of wax esters. Wax esters are also found in human sebum, which is why jojoba feels familiar to the skin: it spreads easily, absorbs quickly, and leaves no heavy, greasy film. Another consequence of this structure is high oxidative stability — jojoba goes rancid much more slowly than many common oils, making it well suited for regular everyday care at home.

What it helps with. Facial skin loses its softness from hard water, central heating, wind, and cold: tightness, flaking, and dry patches around the cheeks and nose appear. Hair suffers from blow-drying, coloring, and dry air — the lengths become brittle, ends split and lose their shine. The cuticle around the nails dries out and cracks. In all of these cases, a lightweight softening treatment is needed — one that doesn't overload the skin or weigh down the hair. That's exactly the role jojoba fills.

How the oil works. On skin, jojoba acts as an emollient: it fills the micro-gaps between the cells of the outer layer, smooths the surface, and creates a thin protective barrier that helps the skin retain moisture. Skin feels softer, and the sensation of tightness disappears. On hair, the oil coats the cuticle, smooths it down, reduces friction between strands, and restores shine. On nail cuticles, it softens roughened skin and makes it more supple.

How to use on the face:

• Evening care — a few drops of oil on clean, slightly damp skin, applied with gentle patting motions;
• Boosting your moisturizer — add a drop of oil to your regular cream when skin needs extra nourishment, such as during cold weather;
• Cleansing — the oil dissolves makeup and impurities effectively: apply to dry skin, massage in, remove with a damp sponge, then cleanse with your usual product;
• Spot treatment — on flaky areas and dry lips.

How to use on hair:

• Pre-wash oil mask — distribute the oil through the lengths and ends; if the scalp is dry, it can be applied there too; leave on for a while, then wash out with shampoo; if hair feels oily afterward, lather a second time;
• Leave-in treatment — a drop of oil rubbed between the palms and applied to the ends after washing makes them smoother and neater;
• Throughout the day — a tiny amount on dry ends to tame frizz and restore shine.

For nails and cuticles: massage a drop of oil into the cuticle and the skin around each nail — the skin will soften and your manicure will look more polished.

For body and hands: after showering, apply a few drops to still-damp skin on elbows, knees, and shins — the oil will soften dry patches. It's also great for hands that are frequently washed or sanitized.
