What happens to hair after washing.

When you wash your hair, the cuticle scales — the outer protective layer of the hair shaft — lift slightly. Wet strands catch on each other, tangle, and a comb has to force its way through knots, causing breakage. Damaged sections of the hair carry a negative charge, which leads to static and frizz after drying. How the conditioner works.

• Cetearyl alcohol. This is a fatty alcohol with nothing in common with drying ethyl alcohol. It creates a creamy texture, coats the hair shaft, softens it, and leaves the length smooth to the touch.
• A positively charged conditioning agent. It is drawn specifically to damaged, negatively charged sections of the hair, deposits a thin layer on them, neutralises static, and noticeably eases combing through wet hair.
• Citric acid. Maintains a mildly acidic environment in which cuticle scales lie flatter and hair reflects light better.
• Coconut fragrance. Ties the conditioner to the series shampoo in a single ritual: both products smell the same and complement each other perfectly.
• Preservative. Essential in any water-based formula to keep the product safe throughout its entire use.

Why no silicones or oils.

Silicones deliver instant smoothness, but with daily use they can build up on the hair — especially when washed with a gentle sulfate-free shampoo. Oils work beautifully in masks, but in an everyday conditioner they easily weigh down fine hair and speed up greasiness at the roots. That's why Cosmex Fresh is built on a lightweight conditioning base: it does its job and rinses out completely, leaving hair soft but not coated.
