This is the second step of the LipidLock lipid system, following the shampoo: squalane, argan oil and jojoba replenish the cuticle's lipids, conditioning agents seal it shut, and hair becomes smooth, soft and easy to comb through. What happens to hair that lacks lipids. Imagine the surface of a hair strand as a tiled roof. The cuticle scales are the tiles, and the lipids between and on top of them are the sealant. While the sealant is in place, the roof is flat, moisture stays locked inside, and light reflects off the smooth surface. Colouring, bleaching, frequent blow-drying and straightening gradually strip those lipids away. The tiles start to lift: hair frizzes, tangles, looks dry and dull, and colour fades faster. The job of the OverLipid balm is to restore that protective layer and smooth the cuticle back down. How it works. The balm is a mildly acidic conditioning emulsion in which two mechanisms work simultaneously. Cationic conditioners are attracted to damaged areas and smooth them out, so wet hair literally detangles under your fingers. The lipid complex fills the gaps between raised scales and coats the strand in a thin softening layer. Citric acid maintains the acidic environment in which the cuticle closes more tightly. As a result, hair retains moisture better and reacts less to humid air. What the lipid complex contains and what else is in the formula. • Squalane. A stable, lightweight lipid closely related to the skin's own lipids. Leaves no greasy film; adds softness and flexibility. • Argan oil. A nourishing oil that softens dry lengths and adds shine. • Jojoba oil. Structurally a liquid wax similar to the skin's natural sebum — it spreads well along the strand and softens it. • Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides. A light emollient that improves slip and makes the balm pleasant to apply. • Panthenol. Pro-vitamin B5 for moisture and hair elasticity. • Centella Asiatica extract (gotu kola). Soothes the scalp if the balm reaches the roots. • Volatile silicone and dimethiconol. Deliver smoothness and shine; the volatile fraction evaporates after application and won't weigh hair down. • Polyquaternium-10 and cationic conditioners. Ease combing, reduce static and smooth the hair surface. • Tocopherol. Vitamin E that protects the oils in the formula from oxidation. What you will feel. The first difference is noticeable in the shower: hair stops tangling and your fingers glide through the length effortlessly. After drying, softness and smoothness appear, flyaways are reduced and ends no longer stick out in every direction. Hair becomes manageable and styles settle more easily. With regular use alongside the line's shampoo and mask, porous lengths look denser and more polished from wash to wash. The balm does not turn damaged hair back into healthy hair — no product can do that — but it replenishes lost lipids and shields lengths from further dryness.
