This is the protein care treatment from the Cosmex OverDose line: the formula is built around hydrolyzed keratin — the protein that hair is primarily made of. Working alongside it are hydrolyzed collagen, wheat protein, argan oil, and vitamin E. The mask is designed for hair that has become thin, brittle, and hollow-feeling after coloring, bleaching, chemical perming, or frequent flat-iron use. Why hair loses protein. Hair is made up of dense keratin fibers protected by a layer of cuticle scales. Alkaline dyes, bleaching powders, heat, and even rough brushing of wet strands gradually break down this structure. Micro-voids form at the sites of damage: hair loses its resilience, stretches and breaks, ends split, and the length looks dull and uneven. Oils and silicones smooth the surface but cannot restore density — that requires protein. How KeraLock™ works. The proteins in the mask are hydrolyzed — broken down into smaller fragments. In this form, they bond to damaged areas and fill the voids in the cuticle rather than simply rinsing away.
